Crochet is a hobby that I have been passionate about for many years. It’s a way for me to relax and unwind, create something beautiful, and use my hands in a creative way.
Recently, I started a new crochet project that I was particularly excited about. The base of this project was not made of PU leather, but was fully crocheted, which was a new challenge for me.
As I worked on my project, I was so focused and absorbed in it that I felt as if my life depended on it. I was determined to create something beautiful and unique.
But then, my 4-year-old daughter came close and started observing me.
“I love the star you’re making, mommy,” she said, with a smile on her face.
“Thank you, dear, this will become a beach bag!” I replied, beaming with pride.
“I love stars, they are beautiful!” she exclaimed.
At that moment, I felt like a cold sweat ran over my face. Star? What star?
I stopped crocheting, blinked a few times, and looked at what I was doing. To my horror, I realized that I had added a fifth side and continued for three rounds without even realizing it!
This little incident made me realize how easy it is to get lost in the details and to forget to zoom out to look at the bigger picture. It reminded me of the times when I was looking for a job, and how often I would focus on one way of doing things, without looking at the broader scope.
It made me realize that having a fresh pair of eyes is extremely important. It’s essential to take regular breaks and to step back from time to time, to look at the overall picture and to ensure that we are on the right track. It’s easy to get lost in the details, but it’s important to remember that it’s the big picture that counts.
In the end, I had to unravel the three rounds and it was frustrating but it reminded me to be more mindful of my projects and it made me appreciate the ability to have a fresh perspective.
My daughter’s innocent observation made me realize that sometimes, the smallest voice can have the biggest impact.
If you need a fresh pair of eyes 👀 , let’s talk!
